Tennessee IR-4 Center

A.B. Smith and N.B. Shamiyeh

Crossville, Tennessee

The Tennessee IR-4 center located at Crossville, Tennessee conducted seven residue trials which included mustard green(3 trials), peach, grass/hay forage, okra, and sweet potato. These trials were completed, and the reports have been sent to the IR-4 headquarters. Four efficacy/phytotoxicity trials with fungicides were also conducted at the Plateau Experiment Station. These included mustard green(2 trials), greenhouse tomato, and broccoli. Results of these trials will be available as soon as authorization from IR-4 headquarters is granted.

CASNR administration has implemented a change of personnel for the IR-4 program in Tennessee. The program is being placed under the supervision of Dr. Angela Thompson at Jackson starting in the 2004 season.

IR-4 has achieved 79 herbicide, 24 plant growth regulator, 92 insecticide, 93 fungicide, 20 nematicide, and 1 bird repellant clearances for both food and non-food use so far this year. This assists the growers as well as the consumers in having more tools to protect the crops from pest destruction.
